This Morning gives jilted bride £2,000 for ‘honeymoon’ with bridesmaids – Cornwall Live

A bride who carried on with her wedding day despite being stood up by her fiancé has been given a cash boost by This Morning so she can still have a honeymoon of sorts. On September 15, Kayley Stead was due to marry the love of her life at a hotel in Wales.

However, just hours before the big day could unfold, the 27-year-old was told that her partner had “gone”. Despite the devastation of him not showing up, Kayley put on a brave face and decided to go ahead with the day, uniting with friends and family who helped support her during the events, WalesOnline reports.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on the ITV show, Kayley said there had not been any signs that her groom would do a runner on the day. Discussing their relationship, Kayley said: “I wouldn’t like to say it’s perfect, because no relationship is perfect, but I honestly believed it was, like we were each other’s person.

“I always dreamed of marrying Sleeping Beauty’s prince and he looked exactly like that. The way that we met was kind of serendipitous, what I thought was fate. But, unfortunately, fate had another plan.”

Kayley, who was joined by two of her bridesmaids including sister Katie on the This Morning sofas, became emotional as she spoke about the day. She was told by the groom’s dad that her fiancé was safe but “four hours away”.

After deciding to go ahead with the rest of the day anyway, Kayley said it was the “toughest time” of her life, but the support of her nearest and dearest helped her through. She said: “The fact that everybody stayed meant more to me than anything else and I just wanted to kind of celebrate that – celebrate my girls because I’m a woman’s girl and always will be.”

Then, in a surprise to Kayley and her bridesmaids, Phil revealed that the show had got some cash together to give her a “honeymoon”. He said: “We think you deserve a honeymoon, so Hayes traveller provided us with £1,000 to put towards a trip of your choice and This Morning’s going to match that, adding another £1,000 for you to have with your closest friends.”

A clearly emotional Kayley said she had planned to go to Turkey for her actual honeymoon. Kayley added: “I need some sun, I need to get some sun on me. Thank you so much for having us here.”
